"Helping the people of Thanet in their time of need"
Thanet's Families In Need Community Support Service and Food Bank is a Non Profit Constituted Community Organisation.
We offer help in crisis to people and families all over Thanet including Ramsgate, Westgate, Margate, Broadstairs, Cliftonville....
One thing we at Thanet's Families in need is hugely proud of is the strength given to us through the support in the community which in turn has made us grow as an organisation and be able to give so much back to the community in many other ways.
We always have volunteers who are waiting and ready to help you in your time of crisis and hardship!!
At Thanet's Families In Need, our concern is real situations of hardship and crisis in Thanet and offering FREE help, support and understanding in any given situation for anyone in need of that support in Thanet.
Single, couples or families in crisis in Thanet young or old.. ALL considered.
We have no set criteria here at Thanet's Families in Need with each case is taken on by its own individual circumstance.
We take referrals from agencies and service providers from all over Thanet and East Kent where ever we can help and more importantly have many links for which we can sign post service users on to should they wish for specialist services.
We not only offer you free support in physical hardship, but we also offer options for your mental and emotional issues. No matter what the situation is, we are here to help and give you will tools and tips to start you on the road to a better happier way of life wherever possible.

~ Winter Soup Kitchen ~
~ Thanet's only rough sleeper outreach, food/clothing bank and support service available 7 days a week ~
We are over the moon with the Winter Shelters Scheme put in place this year by our council that we are supporting.
Covering shifts in the first week it is already proving to be a success.
Your donations have helped us to help the scheme's residents with duvets, sheets, clothing, jackets and shoes so far which both residents and project manager Ian Buckland are most grateful for.
Working with the advice and support from the Charity Commission we run as a 'small charity' meaning we follow all rules set out by charity commission while we get our charity status.
This has not been a priority, with the services and needs of the people of Thanet at the forefront but with demand ever growing, we are now ready to take the organisation to the next level after 4 years running.
Over the last few years, our team has grown and with that comes some wonderful people including our fundraising and events team who raised well over £700 on their first event!

In November - December 2015 we were partners in an exciting pilot scheme by East Kent Housing to support people moving into universal credit and also help with debt/money management, benefits and housing advice, helping with CV's, job applications ect
Disability Support, Food Bank and donations of essential items, sign posting to multi agencies we use, along with Turning Point and Step Up attending the hub on separate themed weeks.
This turned out to be a much praised project after this summer receiving an award at this summer's Kent Housing Excellence Awards as Highly Commended business partners for our community work, collaborating with East Kent Housing which we hope to see in the future. To second that, in November 2016 we were invited to the East Kent Resident Star Awards where Thanet's Families in Need won the award for excellence in working together.
This award is to recognise a group of residents who have worked together to support residents and/or improved a community within the East Kent area.
We have also been shortlisted for a 3rd year for the Heart of the Community Awards with the Isle of Thanet Gazatte
We work with multi agencies including TDC, moving forward to help those in hardship with positive schemes including the Winter Shelters for winter 2016/17 and what we been trying to highlight for well with our last 2 previous council leaders which is the need for more community networking, emphasising how, with better local community networking we can bring a better service for both service providers and service users.
We aim to process donation requests and referrals including furniture, household items, children's and babies items ect with 2 working days the Thanet Food and emergency clothing bank requests within 24 hours with food bank prioritised.
Support and advice is available throughout the day so please feel free to get in touch.
